If something is broken, say which iPhone and which version of iOS you are on, and what you were doing when it happened — it usually saves a whole round trip.
How do the two of us pair?
The one who subscribes gets a six-character code: it is on the invitation card in the Letters tab and in Settings, with a key that sends it. The other person installs LoveInk, taps I have a code and types it in. The pair starts at that moment, and both phones show it.
An unused code works for 72 hours. If it has run out, open the card again and send the new one.
Does my partner have to pay too?
No. One subscription covers the two of you, and the partner who joins with the code never pays. In their Settings → Subscription it says who pays for it. If the subscription ends, the pair stops sending letters until it is back; nothing already sent disappears.
A letter hasn’t appeared on the widget
Letters reach the widget on their own, usually within a few seconds, and they do not need notifications to be on. iOS decides when a widget redraws, so on some phones it can take longer, especially in Low Power Mode or without a connection.
Three things usually fix it: check that the phone is online, open LoveInk once (the app refreshes every widget when it opens), and make sure the widget on the Home Screen is a LoveInk Letter widget. Settings → Widgets in the app shows how to add one.
The distance says location is off
The distance needs location access on both phones. On the phone that is off, open LoveInk’s Settings → Location, or iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → LoveInk, and choose While Using the App. Neither of you ever sees the other’s coordinates, only the distance.
Moving to a new iPhone
Before you switch, open Settings → Account → Continue with Apple on the old phone. That ties your LoveInk account to your Apple ID. On the new iPhone, install LoveInk and choose Continue with Apple in Settings: your letters and your pair come back.
Without that step, the account lives only on the phone that created it, and a new phone starts a new one.
How do I restore a purchase?
Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases inside the app, or the restore option on the purchase screen. Both ask the App Store what your Apple Account owns and re-apply it.
A restore fails when the phone is signed in to a different Apple Account from the one that made the purchase: restores follow the Apple Account that paid.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Apple bills the subscription, so Apple cancels it. On the iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → LoveInk → Cancel Subscription. You keep paid access until the end of the period you already paid for.
You can also get there from inside the app: Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription.
Deleting your LoveInk account does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting the app. Cancel first.
How do we end the pair?
Settings → Pair → End the pair. The code stops working, and nothing more arrives on either phone. Every letter already sent stays where it is.
How do I delete my account, and what goes with it?
Settings → Account → Delete account. LoveInk asks twice, because none of it is recoverable.
What is deleted: your LoveInk account, your entry on our mailing list, the position used for the distance, the notification tokens for this phone, and everything LoveInk kept on the phone for that account. If you had connected your Apple ID, LoveInk also revokes its Sign in with Apple authorization.
What is not deleted: the letters you already sent stay with your partner as their copies, and your App Store subscription keeps running until you cancel it, as above.
